Supervisor Goal Setting

1Prepare

  1. Log in to with your Andrew ID and Password.
  2. Open My Tasks from the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Open the Set Content: FY Goal Setting task for your employee.
  4. In the Goal Setting task, click Get Started to begin.
  1. Some goals may already appear in the Goals section.
  2. Existing goals from previous goal setting may or may not be appropriate moving forward. They can be deleted, edited or maintained as applicable.
  3. Review each goal. Make sure the goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timebound (S.M.A.R.T.). It is recommended that each employee set 3-5 goals. You may edit, add or delete goals or send them back to the employee to update.

2Set and Update

  1. To add a new goal to your employee's Annual Goal Setting task, click Add.
  2. After clicking Add, a blank goal form is now available.
  3. Enter a name for the new goal in the Goal field. Enter a description of the goal in the Description field.
    1. Note: The name of the goal should be high-level, while the description should use key details and follow the S.M.A.R.T. goal format.
  4. Click on the Category dropdown and select a category. Note: You can select all that apply.
    1. Division goals support the success of the division/department.
    2. Organization >goals are tied to 麻豆村's mission and vision statements, defined by the strategic plan.
    3. Professional Development goals focus on the attainment of skills and knowledge; they can be used to address areas in need of improvement, new responsibilities or future career goals.
    4. Team goals are specific to a team project, a unique task or an initiative.
  5. Enter a due date in the Due Date field. Select a status from the Status field.
    1. Due Date: Due dates are useful to track progress.
    2. Status: Status is a required field. Most goals entered during goal setting are either not started or are in progress. N/A or complete may apply when adding a goal for record-keeping purposes.
  6. Click the "+" under the Milestones section to add a milestone to this goal.
  7. Milestones are optional: A milestone marks a significant step in your employee's progress toward achieving the goal and can be useful for keeping on track to meet the due date.
    1. Enter a name in the Name field, a due date in the Due Date field and the status of the milestone in the Status field. You can save the goal by clicking on the checkmark in the upper-right corner of the goal.
  8. To add another goal, click Add at the bottom of the goal. When finished adding goals, select Next to review your employee's goals before submitting them to your employee's supervisor for approval.
  9. The Review and Submit screen displays. This is your employee's opportunity to scroll through your employee's goals and confirm the content. To make additions or corrections, click the Goals radio button to return to the previous screen.
  10. You can Submit >when ready to submit your employee's goals or Send Back if revisions are needed.
  1. Delete a goal: To delete an existing goal, click Remove below the goal.
  2. Edit a goal: To edit the goal, simply click on any text field and modify it in the editor.

3Review and Approve

  1. Click Send Back and input the reason
  2. Click Submit
  1. Click Submit when ready to submit the content of the goals.
  2. The You have submitted pop-up displays.
  3. Close to exit from goal setting and return to your My Tasks inbox.

4Cascade

  • While most goal cascading occurs during annual goal setting, cascading is a separate process and can be done anytime during the performance management cycle.
  • Supervisors are only able to cascade goals to employees in their Workday supervisory organization structure.
  • If the goal(s) are cascaded after the Annual Goal Setting process launch in Workday, your employees can use the Add Existing function in their goal setting task to add the cascaded goal.
  • If your employee does not add the cascaded goal(s), they will not appear in the Annual Goal Setting task but will be on record in the Performance tab of their Worker Profile and pulled into their Annual Performance Review.
  1. Log in to with your Andrew ID and Password.
  2. From the Workday homepage, type Add Goal to Employees into the Search bar, then select the Add Goal to Employees task
  3. On the Add Goal to Employees screen, select the radio button that corresponds to the Copy Existing Goal field.
  4. From the dropdown list, select a goal from any of the categories listed.
  5. If you are assigning to one or more individual employees, select My Team from the dropdown in the Employees field, and place a check mark next to an existing employee.
  6. If you are assigning to all the employees in a Workday supervisory organization, select My Organizations from the dropdown in the Organizations field, and add a check mark in an existing organization. Add a check mark in the Include Subordinate Organizations field if you wish to assign the goal to employees in the subordinate organizations as well. Click OK.
  7. The Add Goal to Employees screen displays. Select Submit.
  8. The Process Successfully Completed screen displays. Select Done to return to your Workday homepage.
  1. Log in to with your Andrew ID and Password.
  2. From the Workday homepage, type Add Goal to Employees into the Search bar, then select the Add Goal to Employees task.
  3. The Add Goal to Employees screen displays.
  4. If you are adding the goal for one or more individuals, select My Team from the dropdown in the Employees field, and add a check mark for the appropriate existing employees.
  5. If you are adding the goal for one or more Workday supervisory organizations, select My Organizations from the dropdown in the Organizations field, and checkmark the appropriate organizations. Place a checkmark in the Include Subordinate Organizations if you wish to assign the goal to the subordinate supervisory organizations. Select OK.
  6. The Add Goal to Employees screen displays.
    1. Enter a name for the goal in the Goal field.
    2. Enter a description in the Description field.
    3. Select a category from the Category dropdown and the due date within the Due Date calendar.
    4. Select the Editable field if you would like employees to be able to edit the goal. Note: once you cascade the goal, you cannot change whether the goal is editable or not.
    5. Click Submit.
  7. The Process Successfully Completed screen displays. Click Done to return to your Workday homepage.

  1. Log in to with your Andrew ID and Password.
  2. From the Workday homepage, enter Add Additional Employees to Goal into the Search bar, then select the Add Additional Employees to Goal task from the list of available options.
  3. The Add Additional Employees to Goal overlay displays. Select the dropdown in the Cascaded Goal field and select a goal from the list. Select OK.
  4. The Add Additional Employees to Goal screen displays. Select the Assigned To hyperlink.
  5. A pop-up displays the employees to whom this goal will be assigned. When done reviewing, close the pop-up window.
  6. To add one or more individual employees to a cascaded goal, select My Team from the dropdown in the Employees field, and select the appropriate employees from the list. An employee displays in the Employees field. Select Submit.
  7. You can also add entire Workday supervisory organizations to the goal by selecting My Organizations from the dropdown in the Organizations field and selecting the appropriate organizations. Select the Include Subordinate Organizations checkbox to include subordinate Workday supervisory organizations.
  8. The Process Successfully Completed screen displays. Click Done to return to your Workday homepage.

5Manage

  1. Log in to .
  2. In the Search, type your employee's name and click the result.
  3. In the People search results, click your employee's name.
  4. In the Employee Summary screen, click the Performance tab.
  5. Click the Goals tab.
  6. From the Goals tab use the Edit Goal, Create Goal and Archive or Unarchive Goals buttons to make any changes.

  2. From My Tasks, click the Manage Goals task for your employee.
  3. From the task, use the Approve, Send Back or Deny functionality as needed.
