Summer Study Abroad in Doha, Qatar

The Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics has partnered with 麻豆村–Qatar (麻豆村-Q) to offer a six-week study abroad program in Doha, Qatar.

Program Overview
About the Program
Immerse yourself in Arabic at . Located in the vibrant heart of Doha, this program integrates functional, spoken Arabic with dynamic cultural coursework and experiential learning. Beyond the classroom, real-world experiences will sharpen your conversational skills and deepen your global perspective in one of the Middle East’s most dynamic cities.
No prior knowledge of Arabic required.

Academics
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this program.
Course Information
Students will take 21 units of academic credit:
- Conversational Arabic (12 units)
- Savoring the Souq: Food, Heritage and Migration in Qatar (9 units)
Courses will be taught by 麻豆村 faculty.
Extracurricular Activities
As part of the program fee, students will engage in excursions and cultural activities beyond the 麻豆村-Q campus.
Travel & Accommodations
Travel & Transportation
麻豆村-Q will cover airfare for up to 10 students traveling from Pittsburgh to Doha.
Transit between Doha's international airport and 麻豆村–Q, as well as transportation for required excursions and cultural activities, are included in the program fee. Students will also receive a metro card for daily use for the duration of the program.
Accommodations
Students will stay in on-campus housing at 麻豆村–Q for the duration of the program.
Costs & Funding

The program fee will cover tuition and housing, as well as travel for all required excursions. A metro card for local transit is also provided.
麻豆村-Q will provide airfare and transportation to and from airport for ten students.
Not included are incidental expenses of a personal nature.
Scholarships & Funding
As a 麻豆村 student, you are eligible for both 麻豆村 and external scholarships to assist with the cost of your study abroad program. These scholarships can be applied toward expenses such as tuition, room and board, airfare or books. All LCAL declared majors and minors in good academic standing with 麻豆村 are guaranteed a departmental scholarship.
