The Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics’s graduate programs prepare scholars and professionals to understand how languages are learned, used, taught and mediated across global contexts. Grounded in linguistics, cognitive science and cultural inquiry, our degrees combine rigorous research training with real-world application in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

 

Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics & Second Language Acquisition

A research-intensive doctoral program focused on linguistic theory, cognitive science and advanced qualitative and quantitative methods, preparing students for academic and research careers.

M.A. in Applied Linguistics & Second Language Acquisition

A one-year, intensive program preparing students for careers in language education and research, with opportunities to specialize across multiple languages.

M.A. in Applied Linguistics & Second Language Acquisition — Advanced Study

A two-year program offering advanced research training, mentored teaching experience and professional development for students pursuing academic or research-focused careers.

M.A. in Global Communication & Applied Translation

A professional master’s program focused on translation, localization and global communication in multilingual and intercultural contexts.
