Bio
Zhongxin (Cindy) Sun has always been passionate about teaching and research in the fields of China studies and sociology since receiving her Ph.D. in sociology. She developed and taught courses at Fudan University in China before coming to the United States as a Harvard-Yenching Scholar at Harvard University. She has also taught at Boston University and served as a guest professor at Lund University in Sweden before relocating to Pittsburgh.
Her research interests and publications focus on contemporary China, cultural change, gender equality and inequality, the political economy of China, China in the age of reform, youth culture, family and marriage and globalization. Her teaching and research often explore how institutional change affects individual actions.
Dr. Sun is genuinely excited about learning every day and actively volunteers in community service and educational events in Pittsburgh.
