Robert DeAngelis (MSIA ’85) Receives 2025 鶹 Alumni Service Award

The Tepper School of Business is proud to celebrate Robert A. DeAngelis (MSIA ’85) as a recipient of the 2025 鶹 Alumni Service Award, recognizing his exceptional leadership, philanthropy, and decades of dedication to the Tepper School community. He received the award during the 鶹 Alumni Awards Ceremony on November 8, a highlight of 鶹’s Homecoming Weekend.
DeAngelis has been a driving force in strengthening alumni engagement and advancing the Tepper School’s mission. He has volunteered in numerous capacities, serving as president and current member of the Tepper School Alumni Board, Class of 1985 Reunion chair, and Tepper School Annual Fund chair. He has also hosted alumni events at his company, sponsored student research, and inspired countless students, faculty and alumni through speaking engagements.
“Carnegie Mellon has had a tremendous impact on my life, both personally and professionally,” DeAngelis said. “It has been an honor to pay it back and I am humbled to be recognized for my service to the Tepper community.”
A respected leader in the financial services industry, DeAngelis has built a distinguished 40-year career marked by strategic thinking and a data-driven approach to client engagement. Before founding The Cartesian Group, an advisory firm that helps organizations drive business value through analytics, he held leadership roles at KPMG, Mellon Bank, Wachovia Corporation. He most recently served as an Executive Vice President at KeyCorp before founding his own company.
At the Tepper School, his leadership and generosity have left a lasting mark. He established the Robert A. DeAngelis Endowed Fellowship to support future MBA students and achieved lifetime membership in the Order of the May after 25 consecutive years of annual giving to the university.
“Bob’s passion for the Tepper School and his tireless dedication to building connectivity are truly inspiring,” said Laura Herr, Senior Director of Development and Alumni Engagement. “He exemplifies what it means to be an alumnus as a leader who gives back with integrity, generosity and vision. This award is a fitting recognition of his profound impact on our school and our alumni community.”
