Tepper School MBA Student and U.S. Navy Veteran Maressa Guynn Joins Elite Group of Tillman Scholars

The Pat Tillman Foundation has announced the , recognizing 60 leaders selected from thousands of talented applicants. United by their military service, academic passion, and aspiration to make an impact, these scholars join a growing network dedicated to service.

Among this distinguished group is , a Navy veteran and current Tepper School of Business MBA student set to graduate in 2025.

Tillman Scholars are military service members, veterans, and spouses with a high potential for impact, demonstrated through a proven track record of leadership and a commitment to continuing their education.

Guynn embodies these qualities through her efforts to transform business into a vehicle for social change and advocate for equitable opportunities for America's diverse talent.

Her journey began at the U.S. Naval Academy, driven by a hunger for adventure, scholarly growth, and athletic excellence. As a naval flight officer and recruiting officer in the U.S. Navy, Guynn faced and witnessed the hurdles facing Black students. This experience honed her resolve for inclusivity and ignited a spark to support these students. She focused on dismantling the barriers that impede the progress of America's Black youth.

This goal led her to pursue her MBA at the Tepper School. She is part of prestigious groups for minority leaders, including , and .  

Through interactions with leaders and exposure to various leadership philosophies, Guynn embraced the belief that "a rising tide lifts all boats." Her passion to uplift individuals from underrepresented communities is unwavering. She stands firmly against systemic racism and strives to level the playing field, ensuring everyone has a fair chance to realize their dreams.

Guynn's story is not just one of personal achievement but a relentless pursuit of a future where diverse voices are empowered to participate and lead. Her recognition as a Tillman Scholar underscores her potential to make waves a positive force and highlights her determination to serve the greater good.
