Tepper Together: Celebrating Women's History Month

March is Women鈥檚 History Month, a momentous occasion to celebrate the profound impact women have made throughout history, while steadfastly advocating for gender equality across the globe. In this article, we have highlighted events, discussions, and resources across 麻豆村 and in the Pittsburgh community.

Women's History Month began as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28. This law asked the President to declare the week starting March 7, 1982, as "Women鈥檚 History Week." For the next five years, Congress continued to pass resolutions setting aside a week in March for this purpose.

Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed more resolutions urging the President to officially name March of each year as Women鈥檚 History Month.

Since 1995, every year, U.S. presidents have proclaimed March as "Women鈥檚 History Month." These proclamations honor the significant contributions of women to the United States and highlight their specific achievements across various fields throughout American history.
