MCS Technology Services is the collaboration of MCS IT and MCS Communications staff.ÌýÌý
We offer a variety of technology services to the MCS community including End-Point Computing Support, Research Computing Support, Web Services, as well as provide Technical Consulting, Technical Procurement and we collaborate closely with central campus technology groups such as Computing Services, Research Computing Advisory Council, and the Academic Computing Group.

Services
MCS Technology Services core function is to provide specialized support for your research needs.Ìý
- Server Hosting - Host your servers in our secure, temperature controlled environments located in Wean Hall, Mellon Institute, or the Pittsburgh Supercomputer Datacenter (Monroeville).
- Reduce hardware costs - by tailoring your research hardware to your current and future needs. We can provide you a cost-effective, long term solution for your research needs.
- High Performance Cluster/server design -ÌýHelp with designing, configuring, and building your own scientific cluster, GPU infrastructure, or any type of server (both for grant proposal writing and for money saving builds). Clusters are built upon a custom Ubuntu Linux distribution that focuses on security and efficiency.
- Software support -ÌýLinux desktop/laptop/server installs and long term maintenance, including custom configuration tuned specifically for a task or service (webserver, wiki, repositories, cloud, mail, backup, etc).
- High Speed Data Transfers - Large dataset transfers to offsite locations can be configured to drastically reduce your research turnaround time.

- Faculty research/lab sites - MCS Tech Services maintains centralized servers for hosting departmental websites.Ìý In a WordPress environment, there many options on how research and lab sites can appear and function. | | |
- Event sites - similar to research/lab sites, MCS also provides free host space to any faculty member holding a workshop or conference.Ìý The combined tools of WordPress and Indico, your event website can be as simple or complex as you need, while still maintaining a professional appearance.Ìý
- Digital SignageÌý- MCS uses "PiSignage" to manage the digital signage you see around our buildings. If you would like content to be added to a particular screen, contact MCS Communications.Ìý If you would like to set up a new screen, contact MCS IT Support.

- Hybrid Meeting Services - You can host a hybrid meeting in any MCS room using our Zoom Carts, or the built in Zoom Room functionality of several rooms. This is especially useful for thesis defenses when an advisor is travelling. Request Training
- Google Group Mailing Lists - A replacement for Mailman. Google Groups allow you to easily create and manage mailing lists.Ìý
- Training - We have several resource links on the Intranet; however, if preferred, we offer basic training for WordPress/Drupal, LiveWhale calendar, or WordPress. Request Training
- Cashnet (Credit Card Processing) - Cashnet is Âé¶¹´å's primary credit card gateway and can be used to sell merchandise and event tickets.
- Ticketing -ÌýMCS runs a "FREESCOUT" server to allow workgroups to handle their own ticketing solution. Ìý
