As a youngster growing up on Long Island, N.Y., Jessica Wilson always enjoyed playing outside by the water. Those childhood days have evolved into a career as a chemist, where she explores ways to keep water clean as she pursues her PhD in at Carnegie Mellon. For her commitment to the field, the , the world’s largest scientific society, awarded her the Environmental Chemistry Graduate Student Award.
