During a recent trip to Asia, President Jared L. Cohon (front row, center), Vice President for University Advancement Robbee Baker Kosak (front row, right) and Development Officer Bryan Tamburro (front row, left) attended a dinner among parents of current Carnegie Mellon students in Hong Kong. About 30 parents attended the dinner at Ho Choi Seafood Restaurant. 鈥淭his was the first official parent gathering in Hong Kong for Carnegie Mellon and we are now looking to sustain the effort there as well as throughout Asia,鈥 Tamburro says.

The event was organized by a core group of volunteers, namely Juliana Yu-Lam (second row, second from right), Winnie Wong (second row, far right), Mora Shih (second row, second from left) and Belinda Ng (third row, third from left).

鈥淢ost of the parents were not acquainted with each other, but now we know each other by name or by face,鈥 says Yu-Lam, who noted that a couple weeks after the event a follow-up lunch meeting was attended by about 10 parents. 鈥淚t was proposed that one coordinator be chosen from parents of each grade to facilitate efficient networking. We鈥檒l keep you posted of further progress,鈥 she says.
