We're pleased to announce the winners of 2025's translation and new play prizes. This year's winners include new translations of works in Spanish, Chinese, and French, and two plays exploring LGBTQ history by up-and-coming playwrights.听

First place in the literary translation contest went to , a reimagining of the life of Jiang Qing by Venezuelan poet Maria Teresa Ogliastri, translated from the Spanish by Yvette Neisser and Patricia Bejarano Fisher.听
The runners-up were Colette's (My Mother's House) and Yan An's . Carol Mastrangelo Bove's new translation of La Maison de Claudine gives new life to a novel from one of France's most popular and well-known authors. Chen Du and Xisheng Chen's translation of will bring An鈥檚 collection of poetry, which was awarded the Lu Xun Literary Prize, one of China's most prestigious literary honors, to English-language readers.听

Two exceptional dramaturges shared the prize this year: Mallorie Sievert for , a queer historical romance between two nuns in 17th-century Peru, and Domenick Scudera for , the story of early drag artist Bert Savoy who made waves in the vaudeville scene.
