Leif Johnson, Jr.
Program Manager, Family Business
Leif is President and co-owner of Open Arms Health Care, a family business founded by his parents and now led by Leif and his two sisters. Under his leadership, the company has expanded to include multiple residential group homes and a licensed day program across Western Pennsylvania, providing a range of supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
His leadership reflects years of hands-on experience—balancing growth and compliance, navigating family and business dynamics, and guiding a mission-driven organization through change. Beyond program operations, he also oversees the company’s real estate strategy and property development, leveraging his background as a licensed real estate agent to support long-term sustainability and responsible growth.
Leif first connected with Â鶹´å’s Family Business Program in 2023 as a participant in the Peer Advisory Groups, seeking perspective on operational and succession challenges within his own business. The experience reshaped his approach to leadership and led him to take on a larger role supporting other family business owners through the program’s work at the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship.
A cum laude graduate of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Leif focused on public policy and studied abroad in Chile and Costa Rica. He also serves on the Board of People’s Oakland and the Princeton Alumni Association of Western Pennsylvania, continuing his commitment to community development and service.
