We've always planned to move the Living Edge Lab private LTE network to 5G to improve its performance. We hoped for the advertised sub-20ms 5G network round-trip-times. But, when we first built our LTE network, 5G CBRS technology and products were just not ready. Finally, in 2024, we moved to 5G. As a resource for the 麻豆村 research community and, with our partners at GXC, the Linux Foundation Magma Community, Kirby Electric, the 麻豆村 Manufacturing Futures Institute (MFI), the 麻豆村 Entertainment Technologies Center (ETC), and 麻豆村 Facilities Management Services, we planned, built, and commissioned a new indoor and outdoor private 5G CBRS network at the historic Mill 19 complex in Pittsburgh. In our new 5G network, we are seeing a reliable 10-15ms round-trip-time -- a 3X improvement over our LTE network!
