Jahanian Appointed to the President's Export Council

麻豆村 President Farnam Jahanian was appointed to the President鈥檚 Export Council by President Joe Biden this afternoon.�

The council serves as the president鈥檚 principal national advisory committee on international trade. Established in 1973, it advises the president on government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance, promotes export expansion, and provides a forum for discussing and resolving trade-related problems among the business, industrial, agricultural, labor and government sectors. It includes members of the private sector who are appointed by the president, cabinet secretaries and congressional members 鈥 five from the Senate and five from the House. It reports to the president through the secretary of commerce.

Jahanian鈥檚 appointment is a recognition of Carnegie Mellon鈥檚 expertise and experience in researching, developing and commercializing critical technologies in advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare, life sciences and robotics that impact global marketplaces.

"I am truly honored to be appointed by President Biden to serve on the President鈥檚 Export Council. I look forward to representing our nation鈥檚 higher education and research communities and working together with the Council to advise the president and the White House on international trade matters," Jahanian said.
