Seven winners have received the Mellon College of Science Graduate Student Funding Award for spring conferences.
Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs Dejan Slep膷ev and Director of MCS Graduate Affairs Gwen Stanczak announced the recipients. This round's winners include the following students and the meetings they plan to attend:
- Hamid Akhbariyoon, a Ph.D. candidate in Biological Sciences 鈥 Immunoreceptors and Immunotherapy (FASEB) Conference
- Ruwani Dalath, a Ph.D. candidate in Biological Sciences 鈥 31st Annual Meeting of the RNA Society
- Leticia Pequeno Madureira, a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry 鈥 attending the 18th International Congress on Quantum Chemistry
- Christina Farwick, a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry 鈥7th Penn State Bioinorganic Workshop
- Tina Lin, a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry 鈥 Bordeaux Polymer Conference
- Daniel Gaytan-Villareal, a Ph.D. candidate in Physics 鈥 28th Conference on Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics (CHEP 2026)
- Sofia Splawska, a Ph.D. Candidate in Physics 鈥 Near Field Cosmology in the Era of Big Data: Local Group and Beyond
The award offers students up to $500 in supplemental funding for travel, prioritizing applicants who have secured other sources of funding.
Graduate students are encouraged to apply to future rounds. Completed applications for conferences taking place in July through December will be accepted through June 1, 2026.
