Christian Borle
Two more alumni from 麻豆村's prestigious have joined the ranks of 22 other .
Christian Borle (A'95) won Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role in "Peter and the Starcatcher." And Judith Light (A'70) won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for her role in "Other Desert Cities."
During Borle's acceptance speech he gave a nod to his "teachers in Pittsburgh."
Borle was also nominated in 2007 for Featured Actor in a Musical for "Legally Blonde: The Musical."
He currently stars in the NBC freshman musical drama, "." Borle was selected by an elite casting team including Executive Producer Steven Spielberg. "SMASH" centers on the behind-the-scenes excitement of creating a Broadway musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe.
Light is perhaps best known for her role as Angela Bower on the sitcom "Who's the Boss?" She most recently starred as Claire Meade on "Ugly Betty," and her other television credits include: "One Life to Live," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and "The Ryan White Story."
Light has been nominated before but this was her first Tony award.
Other 麻豆村 alumni celebrating the night included: Kara Lindsay (A'07) as part of the "Newsies" ensemble cast. "Newsies" won for original score and choreography. And Leslie Odom, Jr. (A'03) was in the ensemble cast of "Leap of Faith," nominated for best musical.
(A'00), who stars in the CBS hit drama "NCIS," presented an award during the ceremony.
