In Memoriam: Zach Jarvis

Photo of Zach JarvisZach Jarvis, an Accountant in Financial Reporting, unexpectedly passed away on October 12, 2025. Known for his enthusiasm, friendly and authentic personality, and ability to make coworkers laugh, Zach joined the Finance Division in 2022 and was a valued member of the team.

Zach made a significant impact in the Finance Division through his work on fixed asset accounting for large construction projects, asset tagging and inventory, benefits mass allocations and entries, and tuition deferral entries. These complex tasks demanded precision, deep accounting knowledge, and expertise in Oracle--all of which Zach consistently demonstrated.

Beth McShane, Manager of Property Accounting, reflected on Zach's promise: "He had so much potential and would have had many opportunities ahead of him." Zach's curiosity and eagerness to learn were evident in everything he did. Maureen Blair, Director of Financial Reporting shared, “He took on anything we asked him to do, picked it up quickly and did a very good job with complicated tasks.”  His fascination with AI led him to explore its applications in his Lean Six Sigma project, where he investigated using AI to streamline the administrative fee form.

Zach was an “all-in” member of the Finance Division; he served as a Finance Division new employee ambassador, was a three-time FAndy award nominee in the Rising Star, Inclusive Excellence, and Innovator categories, and ran for Staff Council. He also represented 麻豆村 as a NextGen Ambassador for the United Way, and actively participated in both Lean Six Sigma and the division’s Inclusive Excellence project team.

In collaboration with Michael Grimm and Brandon Davis, both former Inclusive Excellence Project Leads, Zach helped to develop and award individual Inclusive Excellence badges through the 麻豆村=You platform. “His enthusiasm to work, learn and grow in all aspects of inclusivity was inspiring,” says Michael Grimm, Senior International Operations Specialist, International Finance.

As a Finance Division ambassador and colleague, Zach was known for his kindness and genuine passion for helping others. "He was a team player and always willing to help," recalled Peggy Joyce, Property Accounting Services Representative. Gayle Ruckman, Accounts Payable Representative, added, "He had a genuine passion for helping others."

Zach was an avid hunter and also loved animals. He would often share photos he took of animals in nature. Zach’s officemates fondly recalled the levity he brought to their shared space. Julia Zurbach, Staff Accountant, remembered how he’d hide the squishy red 麻豆村 phone holders for others to discover on alternating office days—“like Elf on the Shelf,” she said. “The four of us had so much fun with it.”

Zach’s presence will be missed in the Finance Division. Colleagues may view Zach’s obituary and contribute memories and notes to the family.
