Dietrich College Senior Honors Program Submission Guidelines
Timeline
As a student completing a thesis in the spring semester, your thesis is due to the Dietrich College Dean’s Office by Friday, April 24, 2026, signed by your thesis advisor and department head.
Working backward from this date, you should establish a timeline with your advisor and department head to allow sufficient time for review, feedback, revisions, and signatures. The review order is:
- Thesis Advisor
- Department Head
- Dean
Suggested Timeline:
- Wednesday, April 1, 2026 – Final draft due to thesis advisor
- Wednesday, April 15, 2026 – Thesis due to department head for second review, signed and approved by thesis advisor
- Friday, April 4, 2026 – Final thesis due to the Dean’s Office
Required Elements
Your submission must include:
- Electronic copy of your thesis, preferably in PDF format
- Electronic copy of completed signature page
- Signed publishing agreement and electronic version of your thesis (unless you opt out—see “KiltHub Repository” below)
Notes:
- The Dean’s Office does not require a specific manuscript style. Advisors or departments may have style/format requirements.
- The signature page certifies approval by your advisor, department head and dean. The signature page is:
- Typically created on official departmental letterhead.
- A sample signature page (pdf) can be found here or you can use the signature page template in Microsoft Word as a guide.
- Secure your advisor and department head signatures before submitting to the Dean’s Office.
- The Dean’s Office will obtain the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies signature; you do not need to route it yourself.
Thesis Title
Your thesis title will appear on your final transcript. Enter the title in SIO under the “Graduation and Diploma” section (in the “Academic Info” tab).
Thesis Presentation
All students must present their thesis at the Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Research Symposium on Reading Day during spring final exams week.
- Registration in advance is required.
- If you cannot present at the symposium, contact Dr. Joseph Devine (Dietrich-UGstudies@andrew.cmu.edu), Program Director, to arrange an alternate presentation.
- December graduates who will be on campus should plan to register and present.
Format: Either a poster session or oral presentation will fulfill the presentation requirement of the Dietrich College Senior Honors Program.

As part of the requirement for the Dietrich College Senior Honors Program, all honors students must submit an electronic version of their approved thesis to the University Libraries. Please follow the steps below to complete your submission:
