FeedbackFruits Group Member Evaluation

What is it and how does it work?

FeedbackFruits is a suite of tools integrated in Canvas that are designed to support structured collaborative work in courses. The Group Member Evaluation tool supports structured peer evaluation of individual contributions within group work by allowing instructors to define evaluation criteria or rubrics that students use to assess one another, promoting accountability, reflection, and transparency in group grading while providing instructors with insights into group dynamics and participation.

Instructors configure the FeedbackFruits tool(s) they want to use from within Canvas, and students complete the learning activity through guided steps. Once the assignment is completed, grades are automatically sent to the Canvas gradebook.

Which skill(s) are targeted?

  • Participate in constructive dialogue to support both the process and product of the collaboration

Who else has used it?

The time commitment for educators to become familiar with the Group Member Evaluation tool varies but generally requires approximately 30-60 minutes. Student responses are available to the instructor within the interface and can also be downloaded from the system.

The student time commitment varies based on the number of questions (as determined by the optional question sets added by the instructor). The size of the team may also impact time commitment as each student submits a self-evaluation as well as an individual evaluation for each team member.
