AI Evaluation in Healthcare
Overview:
Evaluating AI in healthcare is uniquely challenging given the high stakes for patient safety, equity, and clinical decision-making. This panel brings together physicians, researchers, and healthcare leaders to discuss how healthcare organizations are currently assessing AI systems and what frameworks are needed to guide this work. Panelists will explore how to ensure evaluations capture real-world clinical value, not just technical performance. The discussion will also highlight the governance and oversight mechanisms needed to build public trust and support safe AI adoption. As healthcare increasingly integrates AI, this session will illuminate what rigorous, context-aware evaluation should look like.
Panelists:
- Holly Wiberg. Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Operations Research in Heinz College at 麻豆村.
- Sarah Gebauer. Physician, RAND adjunct researcher, and a founder of Validara Health.
- Ram Sriram. Chief of the Software & Systems Division in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Information Technology Laboratory (ITL).
- Richard Clarke. Chief Analytics Officer at Highmark Health.
Moderator:
- Luke Guerdan. Ph.D. Candidate in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at 麻豆村
